I slept in this morning to 6:30 am. After eating my usual breakfast of granola and yogurt, I got a cup of coffee and half a poppy seed muffin in the motel lobby. My motivation to ride to Ferndale to finish my trip returned. At 7:30, I set forth through Bellingham then on Northwest Drive, carrying only one pannier with my bike repair tools. Delightful riding in cool morning air on mostly flat, smooth roads with shoulders. I rode past pastures and rural residences to Alston Road then turned west for two miles to Ferndale and I-5. At the shuttle drop-off point where Betsy and I started our adventure (and where we found that her bike pump didn’t work), I took a selfie to close the loop. The ride back to the motel in Bellingham went smoothly. I spend the rest of the day reading two Tony Hillerman mysteries. Tomorrow at 10 am, I turn in my bike at the bike shop, get on the shuttle at 1 pm, and fly home from Seattle at 7:30 pm. 24 miles to finish the trip.
