Pacific Coast Sierra Cascades Bike Trip Day 11 – Problem Solving, Beach Walk, Onward

Up at 7 for breakfast of Riley’s home-made granola. We discussed what to do about him getting back to Sisters with his gear. First we and our camp neighbors moved our gear to the hiker-biker site. Riley ended up calling Sam’s step-father, Hank, for a ride. He graciously agreed. While Hank drove from Sisters to South Beach, Riley and I took a long walk on the beach. Back at camp, we both packed up. Hank arrived at 1:30 and picked up Riley. I hit the road soon after. Seal Rocks were the scenic highlight of the afternoon (see photo). I cruised along without a lot of climbing as the highway stayed close to the ocean. I found Yachats charming plus I got a pint of chocolate milk. I had long climbs over Cape Perpetual and Heceta Head. At Florence, I bought groceries and entered the Oregon Coast National Recreation Area, as Hwy 101 moved away from the ocean. Four miles later, I stopped at Honeyman Memorial State Park. The hiker-biker area was dark and gloomy, but I was glad to be there. Dinner, set up camp, bed. 53 miles today.
