Back on the bike: the rest of the day consisted of about 15 climbs of 300-500 ft. of elevation, each followed by descents. The ups and downs wore us out physically and mentally.
We gained elevation, slowly, without long climbs. In flatter spots we passed by large ponds and wetlands often flanked by tall cottonwoods. The peaks in the Cabinet Mountains Wilderness provided an impressive backdrop!
For $25, we got a delightful, shady tent site by the river and showers. Today’s ride of 65.3 miles allowed us to have more time in camp. This is a good daily distance for us. Also, the combination of Preparation H and bubble wrap made riding much more enjoyable!
