Day 17 – This Is Living!

First we went grocery shopping and then we made our way to the Comfort Inn at I-94. We spread our wet tent and damp sleeping bags in our room to dry and washed our clothes in the sink. I bought a fuel canister to replace the current one that’s almost dead. I called my grad school friend Scott in Bismarck to arrange a visit three day’s hence. This is living! We biked 80.0 miles today.

Day 16 – South from US Highway 2

On a hill, an overtaking semi steered overly wide of us, causing an approaching guy in a pickup to drive partly off the road. The driver turned around and caught up with us. He was livid that we were biking in the road surface and not the shoulder (narrow with a rumble strip).

Day 15 – Warm Showers

Today we dined on Justin’s peanut butter, tortillas, an apple and an orange. A few miles later, we rode past a group of horses standing near the highway (see photo). This was a typical scene of the day’s riding.

Day 14 – Milk River Valley

After Betsy and I crawled in our sleeping bags last night (well before sunset), a group of boisterous teenagers interrupted our reverie. They soon left, but only to be replaced by another group shooting guns at each other. They finally left and peace resumed.
