Day 2 on the Appalachian Trail

Up at 7am and on the trail after eating soaked oatmeal for breakfast. I said goodbye to Christina and Marge then headed down to Woody Gap. After a stop at the bathroom, I headed uphill. In 1.5 miles, I got water at a spring. In 2 more miles, I came to Lance Cl and got more water. With minor drops, I gained 1800 ft of elevation to the top of Blood Mountain. Going down was much harder on my feet than going up. At the bottom of the descent I reached Neel Gap and Mountain Crossing. I downed a pint of choc milk and picked up my food box. Onward. I missed a spring and walked on  dry ridge in a thirsty state. Happily, after descending to Tesnatee Gap, I found water flowing from a highway culvert. Upward to Wildcat Mountain for the night. A ruffed grouse drummed while I feel asleep.
