Back at the Appalachian Trail - Day 9. I slept on the floor of the hut between the dining tables. Quiet time did not start until 10 pm. With my stocking cap, gloves, and jacket, I set forth for 1.5 miles to Mt Washington. My right ankle worked fine.

Back at the Appalachian Trail - Day 8. After a peaceful night abetted by my ear plugs that muffled the traffic noise from Hwy 302, I packed up and started uphill at 6 am. For a short ways the trail was easy but then headed uphill more steeply.

Back at the Appalachian Trail - Day 7. Although the weather is supposed to clear today, clouds streamed past the shelter when I arose at 6 am. I started hiking down a rocky trail losing 1000 feet of elevation. In three miles, I came to the Galehead hut.
